REPORT ON CELEBRATION OF THE 12th INTERNATIONAL DAY OF YOGA (IDY-2026)
Academic Heights Public School, Nacharam, celebrated the 12th International Day of Yoga (IDY-2026) on the 20 June, 2026 in accordance with the guidelines issued by CBSE and the Ministry of AYUSH. The programme aimed to promote holistic health, well-being, preventive healthcare, and awareness about the importance of yoga among the students and staff.
The celebration commenced with an introduction to the International Day of Yoga by the student anchors, who highlighted the significance of yoga in maintaining physical fitness, mental wellness, emotional balance, and a healthy lifestyle. The Director of the school Mr. Shiv Kumar, Principal Ms. Moni Sonker, teachers, and students actively participated in the programme.

The Chief Guest, Ms. N. Raga Jyothi, a qualified yoga practitioner and a wellness expert, was formally felicitated. She conducted a Yoga Workshop and Mass Yoga Demonstration, guiding students through various yoga asanas, pranayama techniques, breathing exercises, and mindfulness practices. The session emphasized the role of yoga in improving concentration, flexibility, discipline, and overall well-being.
To create awareness about yoga, Grade VII students presented an informative Yoga Awareness Skit in English highlighting the benefits of regular yoga practice and encouraging healthy lifestyle choices. Adhya of Grade VI delivered a speech on the significance of International Day of Yoga and its contribution to physical, mental, and emotional health.
As a part of the awareness programme, students and teachers were encouraged to participate in various Yoga-related initiatives and competitions organized by the Ministry of AYUSH and MyGov platform. Information regarding Yoga Sangam, Yoga 365, and the Namaste Yoga App was also shared to motivate students to continue practising yoga beyond the celebration.

The programme successfully promoted the objectives of International Day of Yoga 2026 by fostering awareness about preventive healthcare, encouraging active participation in yoga activities, and inspiring students to adopt yoga as a regular part of their daily lives.
Outcome of the Programme:
* Enhanced awareness about the benefits of yoga and preventive healthcare.
* Encouraged students and staff to adopt yoga for physical fitness and mental well-being.
* Promoted healthy lifestyle practices and mindfulness.
* Motivated students to participate in Yoga-related activities and initiatives.

Participating in the programme, Director Mr. Shiv Kumar and the Principal Ms. Moni Sonker expressed the importance of practicing Yoga in day to day life in this fast pacing world to cope up with a healthy lifestyle.

The programme then transitioned to the Father’s Day Celebration. The anchors introduced the significance of Father’s Day and acknowledged the sacrifices, guidance, and unconditional love of fathers.
Students of Grades VI and VII presented a heartfelt Father’s Day skit in Telugu, portraying the love, care, and support provided by fathers in everyday life. This was followed by a touching Telugu poem, which beautifully expressed gratitude and admiration for father
Students of Grades IV then staged an impressive Father’s Day skit in English, highlighting the special bond between children and their fathers.
The programme concluded with inspiring words from the school leadership, encouraging students to practise yoga regularly and cherish the values taught by their parents.


A sincere Vote of Thanks was delivered, expressing gratitude to the Chief Guest, Director, Principal, teachers, students, and all those who contributed to the success of the event.


Conclusion:
The Yoga Day and Father’s Day Celebrations were a grand success. The event not only created awareness about the importance of yoga for a healthy lifestyle but also provided an opportunity for students to honour and appreciate their fathers. The programme was both educational and meaningful, leaving the participants inspired and motivated.
